Packing for Shipment of Your Flowers
Jul 05, 2008

To pack and ship your flowers, you will need:

  • A styrofoam cooler larger than your bouquet
  • Large plastic trash bag
  • Packaging material. Newspaper, tissue paper, or styrofoam packing peanuts
  • Packaging tape
  • A frozen coolant block or coolant gel pack (similar to ones that keep items cool in lunch boxes)
If a coolant block is not available, you can make a cool pack.
Take two large zip lock bags and put one inside the other. Fill the inside bag with ice cubes and seal. Take paper towels and add to the sides of the second bag and seal. Put these in the freezer until you are ready to pack your flowers for shipment.
  1. Tape your coolant block, gel bag, or ice cube bags to the bottom of the styrofoam cooler with packaging tape. Make sure they are secure.

  2. Now make a "nest" the size of your bouquet on top of the refrigerant using crumpled newspaper or tissue paper.

  3. Remove the bouquet from the refrigerator, keeping it inside of the plastic bag and place it in the nest with the flowers facing up.

  4. Fill the styrofoam cooler to the top with the packing peanuts or more crumpled newspaper or tissue paper.

Important - make sure you provide your name, address, and telephone number on a piece of paper and tape it to the inside of the styrofoam cooler. If you have not already provided a deposit by phone you must include check, money order, or credit card information with your flowers. Checks should be made out to Preserved Petals. We can not begin the preservation process without the required deposit amount of $125.

C
lose the cooler and seal it with packaging tape. Write "THIS SIDE UP" on top of the box and "FRAGILE" on each side with a marking pen as large as possible. The shipping address is:

Preserved Petals
600 Kenrick Drive
Suite A10
Houston, Texas 77060

If you have not already done so, call us to let us know your flowers are on the way.

Priority Shipping
It is imperative that you overnight your bouquet to Preserved Petals. We recommend overnight express mail from the U.S. Post Office, but you may use UPS, FedEx, or any priority overnight shipper as long as they guarantee delivery no later than 2pm the next day.

Selection of Display and Final Payment
Once your bouquet is on it's way to us, you have four weeks to make your decision on the display. We will be happy to advise you on what will work best with your flowers. Once a display decision is made the balance is due on your order.
